Without exaggeration one can say that instant noodles is a worldwide bestseller – its consumption is increasing year by year and an impressive numbers show its popularity – in 2017 alone, more than 100 billion packages were sold worldwide. The secret of its uniqueness is stable attractiveness for completely different people – from different countries, different ages and cultures. A simple idea, which is the basis for instant noodles, has been successfully developed by manufacturers all over the world for 60 years and has now transformed into a whole industry that provides people with high-quality and nutritious food.
The 9th International Summit of Instant Noodles Manufacturers organized by the World Instant Noodles Association – WINA – was held in Osaka, Japan on 22 and 23 of August 2018, and gathered 149 global manufacturers. It is no coincidence that Osaka was chosen to host the summit. This is the city where 60 years ago, in 1958, the product “instant noodles” went on sale for the first time.
With the long-term future in mind, the leaders of the industry are asking themselves how, with the help of their product, they can change people's lives for the better. The answer is to combine innovative developments with creative potential, especially with the progressive ideas of new generations – this is how WINA sees its international mission for the next 40 years to be fulfilled by 100th anniversary of the legendary product.
